Facebook is one of the top social networking sites and also
platform of communication among us. Like it or not, Facebook is going to be a
permanent fixture in the social landscape for years to come. For me, I sign in
as facebook users since two years ago. But nowadays, facebook privacy problems are
on the rise. For sure, as a Facebook users I am always aware about this issue.
Based on what I understanding form Article : Facebook's Privacy Issues
According to the consumer reports," Issues covered by the influential consumers watchdog group included updates on data leaks,hacks,scams and the like,while featuring a separate report focusing entirely on Facebook and how the social network deals with privacy,security and the very personal information we so willingly share."
As you can see,some of them don't use privacy controls for their Facebook account.For me,I will delay the friend request if I don't know that person.Usually,I will restricted my post or picture as friends view only to prevent hacker using my picture all those things.But,the truth is even you have restricted your information to be seen by friends only, a friend who is using a Facebook app could allow your data to be transferred to a third party without your knowledge.So,we can't do anything for this problems.
Ya ! Facebook becomes my daily activities and I need Facebook to chat with my (family/friends),share my personal post,doing assignment discussion with my friend, getting know the recent news and etc.For sure, I will continue using Facebook after knowing this issue.
I agree with what you've mention. In your 3rd paragraph you mention about restriction, prevention of hackers and the risk of having information being transfer to third party. Just want to add a little in that, to me, no matter how we set the privacy setting, we are still in risk of being expose just that the degree of exposure is different. About hacker, is not only prevent them using our picture, is prevent our account being hack. Just sometimes, some people might let their family or friends know about the password but who knows whether the password will be expose or being misused? What we can do is to strengthen the password by adding symbols if the system allows and not revealing it to others. Anyhow, we must always be alert and aware to prevent any unnecessary problems. =)
ReplyDeleteYaya,what you mentioned are reasonable...we still in dangerous situation even though we done the privacy setting.Few days ago,I saw that my friends account being hacked by hacker.I just realize that the risk of using Facebook.For safety,I think we not suppose to let others people know about the password to prevent being hack by them.
ReplyDeleteI agree the way you did to restrict your photo as friends view only because some strangers might stole our picture and abuse it for example they might use our photos to create a new facebook account without our knowledge and act like us. Although this is not completely safe but at least we had decreased the possibility to being violated. :)
