What is ACT114A ?
From my understanding, Section 114A," Presumption of Fact in Publication" is the second of two amendments made to Malaysia’s Evidence Act 1950.The recent amendments made have consequences for everyone ( individuals, corporations or enterprises) who uses the network, computers, or mobile devices.
Section 114A deals with allegedly illicit or harmful content the amendment enables law enforcement officials to swiftly hold someone accountable for publishing seditious, defamatory, or libelous content online for example : Facebook, twitter, blogspot and etc.
How would ACT114A affect you?
For sure, this section not really affect me at this moment. But then we also need to know how to prevent this issue happen in ourselves. "Prevention is better than cure" this is what I always did. For safety , I will always logout my account to avoid being attacked by hackers by using my username, electronic device or WiFi network. If not I will be the people who accountable for publishing content online under Section 114A.Besides that ,I will always beware what I did and post in Internet.
Does it really matter?
Absolutely Yes! Nowadays, Internet becomes part of our life. Everyone are using their network to studying, working, blogging all those things. In fact if our account misuse by someone or hacker, we need to be responsible what they did under Section ACT114A.
Should you be concerned?
Of course I need to concerned this issue because nowadays internet or networks also a way to communicate with others. Besides, Section 114A threatens the right to freedom of expression.We also need some space to utter our opinion. For this section ,it was unfair for those who make good use to network.A campaign " Internet Blackout " carry out to find out how section 114A threatens your right to use the internet in Malaysia !

Hey, I got some opinions about your point under how would ACT114A affect us. As i know , even if we logout our accounts after using, the hackers are still manage to hack our wifi connection and do something illegal or offensive. At the end , we are the one who need to give responsibility under ACT114A.
ReplyDeleteI guess what Chia Ling meant was that by logging off from our social network accounts could decrease the possibility of being hacked/hijacked. Of course, hackers will still be able to hack the particular account but I'm pretty sure they themselves will need to go through certain procedures in order to do so and some might be complicating.

ReplyDeleteya, i knew that , just to say that even if we had done the best but we still have the chance to become guilty under this law, is a big disadvantage of this law in my own opinion(:
